Privacy Officer (MMIS)Conduent is seeking Privacy Officer ensures compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations, protecting patient information and overseeing organizational privacy practices.About the RoleThis position is contingent upon the award of a government contract. Recruiting and interviewing activities may occur prior to contract award; however, employment and start dates are subject to contract award, funding, customer approval requirements, and/or satisfaction of any applicable pre-employment conditions.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all aspects of privacy compliance, safeguarding PHI, educating staff, handling incidents, ensuring individual rights, and maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures. This work is vital for protecting member information, minimizing risk, and maintaining public trust in the Medicaid programEnsure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule and Security RuleDevelop, implement, and maintain privacy policies and proceduresStay current with Federal and State privacy laws and regulations affecting Medicaid programsProvide ongoing training and education to staff and contractors about privacy policies, procedures, and best practicesFoster a culture of privacy and security with the clientInvestigate and respond to potential privacy breaches, including risk assessments and breach notification to affected individuals, regulators, and other required partiesMaintain thorough documentation of privacy incidents and agency response actionsConduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure the effectiveness of privacy controlsRecommend and implement corrective actions as neededOversee and respond to requests from the client regarding individual's rights under HIPAA (e.g., access to records, amendments, accounting of disclosures)Ensure proper mechanisms are in place to address complaints and concerns from individuals about their PHIServe as the primary point of contact for privacy matters with internal staff, Medicaid members, contractors, and regulators (e.g., HHS Office for Civil Rights)Work closely with IT, legal, compliance, and other departments to align privacy efforts across the AgencyProvide regular reports to Agency leadership on privacy compliance status, incidents, and improvementsEnsure that contracts with Suppliers and business associates include appropriate privacy and security provisionsMonitor third-party compliance with privacy requirementsRequirementsFive (5) years of professional experience in privacy complianceTwo (2) years of direct experience in HIPAA complianceKnowledge and demonstrated experience with NIST, Federal Information Security policies/requirements, HIPAA, and other related State and Federal information privacy laws, security laws, and breach notification lawsA minimum of bachelor's degree in information technology, health information management; or equivalent work experienceCertified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) or equivalent certificationFlexible WorkingIn this role, you can expect the following working conditions:Onsite WorkWork in our local office, receiving personal coaching and leadership so that you can provide the best support for our clients and help you grow in your career.Working For YouPerks and rewards designed for you:Career Growth Opportunities: We help you thrive, so together, we can grow. For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive.
