Child Nutrition Program Assistant (CNP Worker)

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in school food services preferred
  • Food Safety Training preferred
  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations

Reports To:

  • Child Nutrition Program Manager

Job Goal:

  • To assist in the maintenance of an efficient and sanitary Child Nutrition Program, including but not limited to, food preparation, food storage, food service, kitchen/cafeteria maintenance, and record keeping

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Perform work in the school food service facility in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Prepare and serve food as assigned
  • Perform custodial, dish room, serving area, and/or storeroom duties as assigned
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and work safety
  • Operate and maintain food service equipment in a safe and skillful manner
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with the manager and other employees
  • Provide cordial and professional service to students and others
  • Work in any position in the department as directed by the manager
  • Direct and supervise the work of others as assigned by the manager
  • Communicate effectively with the public, staff members, students, parents, administrators, and other contact persons using tact and good judgment
  • Follow attendance, punctuality, and proper dress rules
  • Ensure adherence to good safety standards
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities
  • Maintain expertise in assigned areas to fulfill project goals and objectives
  • Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment
  • Keep the supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member
  • Demonstrate support for the school system and its goals and priorities
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement
  • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position

Terms of Employment:

  • Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan; Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system
  • Evaluation:

    • The CNP Director will evaluate in accordance with the support personnel evaluation procedure, with input from the school principal
