Summary of the Position The Montgomery Academy is seeking a skilled, dynamic and experienced volleyball coach to oversee the effective administration and growth of its Middle School Volleyball Program. The Head Middle School Volleyball Coach position is not a full-time position unless combined with another administrative or teaching duty at the school.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic fundamentals and skills of volleyball.Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with volleyball.Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.Train and guide players in alignment with expectations set out by the Varsity Head Coach of the Volleyball Program.Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to AHSAA guidelines.Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty.Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in volleyball during athletic contests.Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred.At least two years of volleyball coaching experience is preferred.Experience in an independent school setting is preferred.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.A commitment to The Montgomery Academy's mission and core values.Knowledge of current best practices in athletic administration, including compliance with AHSAA regulations.Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff and community stakeholders.#J-18808-Ljbffr
