- Assistant Project Manager: Based on experience
- Project Manager: $100,000 – $130,000 (1 opening)
- Senior Project Manager: $130,000 – $160,000 (1 opening)
- Relocation Assistance Available OR $650/week living allowance for travelers
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking experienced MEP Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Assistant Project Managers to support a long-term data center construction project running through 2030
These roles are responsible for managing large-scale mechanical and plumbing construction projects, with a focus on HVAC, piping, and related MEP systems. Candidates must have experience working for a mechanical subcontractor and managing project financials, field labor, and subcontractors from project initiation through completion.
The Senior Project Manager will oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Installation Oversight
- Lead installation of HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems for large commercial and healthcare projects
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications, safety standards, and project timelines
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful execution
Financial & Budget Management
- Manage full project lifecycle including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
- Establish job costing structures including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs
- Conduct monthly cost reviews and identify variances or risks
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
- Negotiate and manage vendor and subcontractor agreements
- Review submittals for compliance with drawings and specifications
- Maintain strong relationships to support project success
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage field teams including foremen, superintendents, and trade personnel
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and code requirements
- Conduct safety meetings, site inspections, and incident investigations
- Maintain compliance with healthcare and infection control standards when applicable
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare project reports, schedules, and performance updates
- Communicate progress, risks, and milestones to leadership and stakeholders
- Maintain accurate project documentation
Qualifications
Experience
- Assistant Project Manager: Entry-level to early career experience in construction or MEP projects
- Project Manager: 5–10 years of project management experience with a mechanical subcontractor
- Senior Project Manager: 10+ years of experience managing large commercial construction projects ($15M–$25M+)
- Must have MEP experience, specifically HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems
- Data center project experience strongly preferred
- Experience managing field labor teams, subcontractors, and project financials required
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent field experience in HVAC or plumbing will be considered
Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Knowledge of construction best practices, contracts, and MEP systems
- Strong financial acumen including budgeting and forecasting
- Proficiency in project reporting and cost tracking
