The duties include but are not limited to:
- Installs and repairs gas and electrical kitchen appliances to include slicers, mixers, stoves, ovens, steamers, tilting skillets, food warmers, dishwashers, steam pots, serving line equipment, food choppers, and garbage disposals.
- Installs and maintains refrigeration equipment such as air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, coolers, and ice cream machines.
- Performs preventative maintenance on kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Maintains accurate and timely records of time, labor, and materials via computer-based programs.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Supervisors, Foremen, and other employees.
- Completes work assignments without close supervision.
- Completes all projects as to neatness conformance with standards of related trade.
- May be assigned other duties as required.
- This position may also be required to work after hours and weekends when necessary.
- This position may also be required to perform duties on shift work-schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a high school graduate or have a GED Certificate.
Must have five (5) years of experience in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and appliance repair, or an equivalent combination of trade school training and experience.
Must have five (5) years of experience in field work.
Must have E.P.A. Certification for the proper use of refrigerants including recovery, recycling, and reclaim.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the principals of refrigeration, electrical circuitry and air movement common to heating, air conditioning, kitchen appliances, and refrigeration systems.
Must have knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and tools used in the trade.
Must have knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
Must have good knowledge of local heating and air conditioning codes.
Must demonstrate ability to fit and braze piping.
Must possess some basic computer knowledge.
MUST HAVE A VALID ALABAMA DRIVER'S LICENSE.
MAY BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE.
Must be insurable as determined by MCPSS personnel into private and business driving records within any consecutive three-year time frame. Duty Days 260
Salary Range: From/To Beginning pay - $47,181.00

**Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
