NATURE OF WORK: The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance, minor mechanical and maintenance repair, and custodial duties. The essential functions of this classification are: performs routine custodial tasks; performs simple mechanical and maintenance repair; performs ground maintenance duties; and contributes to the department objectives. Work is performed under the supervision of an Airport Terminal Maintenance Foreman who issues written or oral instructions.

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES: The following list of work responsibilities was developed through a job analysis; however, it is not exhaustive and other duties may be required and assigned.

1. Performs routine airport custodial tasks in the airport's main lobby, terminal, bathrooms, and administrative offices using tools and equipment such as buffer machines, vacuum cleaner, mops, gloves, and cleaning solutions following supervisor's written or oral instructions in order to clean and maintain the airport's building.
2. Performs basic mechanical and maintenance repair tasks in the airport using a ladder and basic hand tools such as a screwdriver, needle nose pliers and wire cutters following verbal or written instructions in order to maintain the physical condition of the building.
3. Performs ground maintenance duties on the airport grounds using assorted hand tools following established rules in order to maintain and upkeep the airport grounds.

Contributes to the department objectives by accepting additional assignments following supervisor's instruction in order to meet the overall objective of the Montgomery Airport Authority.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
Knowledge of safe practices in the use of cleaning materials and equipment.
Knowledge of safe practice in lifting, stooping, climbing ladders and ladders in the operation and repair of equipment.
