Position Summary:

The Service Repair Journeyman Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems, fixtures, and equipment used for water distribution, drainage, and waste disposal in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires advanced plumbing knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, water heater malfunctions, sewer line problems, and fixture failures.
  • Install, maintain, and repair pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in buildings.
  • Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building plans to ensure proper installation and repair alignment.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on plumbing systems.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
  • Provide clear communication and recommendations to customers regarding repair options, costs, and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, documentation, and service reports.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and plumbing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Mentor and assist apprentice plumbers as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Journeyman Plumber License (state-specific).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of plumbing experience in service and repair settings.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to diagnose and problem-solve effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with tankless water heaters, sump pumps, and backflow prevention devices.
  • Familiarity with digital work order systems or mobile service apps.
  • Certification in gas fitting or backflow testing (if applicable).
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and cross-trade coordination.
Work Environment:
  • Field-based position working in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, confined spaces, and outdoor environments.
  • Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) per company and OSHA standards.
