Purpose of Role

Responsible for ensuring that all AI systems at Finance of America are secure, compliant, and resilient, supporting the company's strategic and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

• Advances business and innovation goals by embedding security into the company's AI adoption strategy, balancing agility, compliance, and risk management to accelerate safe AI enablement.

• Leads the strategy, execution, and roadmap for the company's AI Security program, including investigations, systems design, and tooling selection.

• Collaborates with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure responsible AI use and adherence to regulatory and ethical standards.

• Integrates AI-specific security controls into enterprise governance processes such as procurement, vendor risk management, and software change control.

• Partners with the Security Operations Center and Emerging Technology teams to detect, investigate, and respond to AI-related cybersecurity events.

• Tracks emerging risks in AI technologies and recommends proactive defenses to safeguard enterprise systems and data.

• Integrates AI-specific requirements into the enterprise information security framework aligned with recognized industry standards and other cybersecurity risk frameworks.

• Leads security reviews for proposed AI technologies, evaluating risks related to data handling, model behavior, and system integration, and contributes to Enterprise Security's role in AI adoption and governance decisions.

• Acts as a strategic advisor and critical reviewer for AI initiatives, ensuring that business innovation is balanced with technical feasibility, compliance, and risk appetite.

• Contributes to the publication of information security policies, standards, and guidelines related to AI.

• Establishes measurable indicators of AI risk posture and effectiveness of AI security controls.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications - Experience/Skills/Competencies

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, risk management, security operations, or information technology, including at least 2 years focused on AI, data security, security engineering or emerging technology risk.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in developing or scaling security programs across a diversified enterprise.

• Working knowledge of U.S. laws and regulations relevant to financial services technology and cybersecurity.

• Proficiency with standard security technologies and investigative methods for security or compliance incidents.

• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST AI RMF, SAIF).

• Skilled in conducting risk assessments of AI systems, including model lifecycle security and third-party service evaluations.

• Demonstrates disciplined curiosity and analytical skepticism in evaluating emerging AI technologies and claims.

• Strong analytical and project management skills with the ability to lead complex initiatives.

• Awareness of emerging trends in AI and financial technology, with the ability to identify and safely implement new tools.

• Self-driven and capable of managing priorities independently while maintaining clear communication and alignment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex topics to diverse audiences, including executives.

• Comfortable working in evolving environments, bringing structure and clarity to new or ambiguous domains.

• Builds effective partnerships through transparency, collaboration, and trust.

• Experience with security monitoring, red teaming, or incident response in data science environments is a plus.

• Background in lending or financial services preferred.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is ($112,100-186,700) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer. We offer a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time-off benefits, flexible spending account, 401(k) with employer match, and ESPP.
