Description:

CNC Machinist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain computer numerical control (CNC) machines to perform various tasks such as milling, turning, drilling, and grinding. The Machinist will be responsible for producing precision parts and tools by following technical drawings, ensuring high-quality output, and adhering to strict specifications and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

Setup and Operation: Read and accurately interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code programs to determine machine settings and tooling requirements.

Programming and Editing: Modify and adjust existing G-code programs to optimize cycle times, correct errors, or accommodate minor design changes. Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut. May be required to write basic programs for simple parts (often using conversational programming).

Quality Control and Inspection: Routinely inspect parts during the manufacturing process using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines). Maintain part dimensions within the required tolerances and finish specifications. Document all work performed, including logging production counts, inspection results, and any deviations or adjustments made.

Maintenance and Safety: Perform regular preventative maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and checking fluid levels. Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues (e.g., tool breakage, chip buildup). Adhere strictly to all safety policies, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures.

Working hours: Various Shifts Available

Skills:

CAM Software Proficiency: Extensive experience using advanced Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software packages (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, GibbsCAM, Fusion 360) for generating toolpaths, simulating machining, and post-processing code.

Complex Programming: Ability to perform advanced G-code programming and editing, including writing complex sub-routines, macros, and utilizing coordinate system rotations.

CAD Literacy: Proficiency in reading, manipulating, and potentially designing parts using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).

Education: Trade

Experience: 1-4 years

Qualifications:

Experience: Proven experience (2+ years) as a CNC Machinist, CNC Operator, or Tool and Die Maker.

Technical Proficiency: Expertise in setting up and operating one or more types of CNC equipment (e.g., CNC milling machines, CNC lathes). Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Proficiency in manually calculating offsets and adjusting machine controls. High proficiency with precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges). Mathematical Skills: Excellent mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills (trigonometry, geometry) for making necessary calculations. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials up to 50 lbs., and work in an industrial environment.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational school or apprenticeship program in machining or tooling is highly advantageous.
