This is a part-time position with a pay-per-class structure. As a Fitness Group Class Instructor, you will have the opportunity to inspire members through engaging exercise programs. Classes may be scheduled for early mornings (starting at 5:30/6:30 am) or evenings (after 5:00 p.m.) based on demand and your qualifications.

OVERVIEW:

As a Fitness Group Class Instructor, you will plan, lead, and guide members in group exercise sessions, maintain fitness center equipment, demonstrate proper techniques, and promote an inviting atmosphere that encourages member participation and retention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute choreography while instructing members in various group exercise formats.
  • Maintain a positive and controlled environment during group activities.
  • Safeguard and maintain fitness and audio equipment in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensure participant safety by observing potential hazards and preventing injuries.
  • Verify and document member attendance through ticket submissions for each class.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while promoting group exercise opportunities.
  • Create a welcoming environment for all members, guests, and staff.
  • Keep fitness studios clean and organized, ensuring all equipment is well-maintained.
  • Participate in group meetings as directed by the Group Exercise Director, Managing Partner, or Group Exercise Manager.
  • Carry out any additional related tasks as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports directly to the Group Exercise Manager and the Regional Group & Small Group Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Dedicated, goal-oriented, enthusiastic, and energetic.
  • Strong work ethic and sound decision-making skills.
  • Proactive self-starter who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, ideally within the fitness sector.
  • Competent in supervisory, diplomatic, and listening skills.
  • Exhibits utmost professionalism.
  • Holds certifications in specific Group Exercise Programming.

2) Minimum certifications/education/experience level:

  • At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Relevant certifications for fitness classes being instructed (e.g., Les Mills certifications).
  • CPR/AED Certification.
  • First Aid Certification.
