8 HR Custodian

Essential Functions: 1. Regular and punctual attendance required 2. Maintain school facilities and grounds 3. Sweep, mop, empty trash, clean restrooms, strip, wax and buff floors and any other task related to cleanliness 4. Conduct maintenance, make repairs as needed to include changing light fixtures and light bulbs 5. Coordinate with the Maintenance Department on those items requiring work that is more detailed 6. Order and maintain supplies 7. Assist with moving furniture and other items within the school facilities 8. Be available to respond as required to alarm activations 9. Lock and secure school buildings daily as assigned

Other Job Responsibilities: Assume reasonable job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor in order to meet the needs of the school

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Ability to work an eight (8) hour day and overtime as requested 2. Ability to follow oral and written instruction 3. Ability to work independently with or without supervision 4. Skills in the use of tools and equipment pertinent to the assigned tasks 5. Knowledge of equipment, materials, tools, and methods to perform work tasks as assigned 6. Knowledge of safety rules in the workplace 7. Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and perform effectively as a team member

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions: 1. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, depending on the job assignment 2. Walk and stand 85% of work shift 3. Stoop, bend, twist, turn, and reach on a regular basis 4. Environmental exposures to heat and cold on a regular basis 5. Adequate strength, dexterity, and agility to perform all tasks assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school diploma, GED, or sufficient education and experience to perform the duties of the position 2. Some experience with commercial custodial or janitorial work preferred 3. Ability to carry out tasks requiring moderate physical exertion and some heavy lifting, working outside in various conditions 4. Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes 5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
