Job Details

The Service Patrol Operator is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Transportation. Positions are located in Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Mobile. This is semi-skilled work patrolling urban highways in order to assist motorists and curtail traffic congestion by providing incident control until the incident is cleared. Vacancies are filled by direct appointment. No examination is required. No employment register is maintained. Applicants meeting the qualification below may apply directly to the Alabama Department of Transportation Region or Area Office for which they wish to work or to the State Personnel Department to be placed on the direct appointment list for Service Patrol Operator.
