About the Role:

The Inventory Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of inventory management within the transportation and warehousing sector. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed records of stock levels, processing incoming and outgoing shipments, and verifying inventory data against physical counts. The Inventory Clerk ensures that all inventory procedures comply with company standards and regulatory requirements, contributing to smooth warehouse operations. By accurately interpreting documents and utilizing warehouse management systems, the clerk supports timely order fulfillment and reduces discrepancies. Ultimately, this role helps optimize inventory control, minimize losses, and improve overall supply chain effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working in inventory control or warehouse operations.
  • Basic proficiency with warehouse management systems and barcode scanning technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and shipping labels.
  • Physical capability to operate material handling equipment and perform manual inventory tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the transportation and warehousing industry.
  • Familiarity with advanced inventory software and automated tracking systems.
  • Certification in forklift or pallet jack operation.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating inventory figures and measurements.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update inventory records by accurately entering data into warehouse management systems.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks to move and organize stock within the warehouse.
  • Follow established procedure manuals to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Read and interpret various documents including barcodes, shipping labels, and inventory reports.
  • Calculate figures and amounts related to inventory quantities, weights, and measurements.
  • Divide inventory into appropriate units of measure to facilitate accurate tracking and reporting.
