Job Summary

The World Language Teacher educates students in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing and to develop students' understanding of the culture associated with the language being taught. This position is open for any instructor who is fluent in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Chinese, French, or German.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teach courses within area of expertise that aligns with Alabama Advanced World Language Standards.
2. Expose students to the foreign language while motivating each student to develop competencies, knowledge, and skills in comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing.
3. Develop student understanding and appreciation of the culture associated with that language.
4. In collaboration with the leadership team, identify academic priorities, and set measurable goals to achieve priorities and monitor progress towards goals.
5. Collaborate with Instructional Team to make instructional, curriculum, and assessment decisions that are strategic, intentional, and grounded in data.
6. Assess students' progress using daily formative assessments, weekly/bi-weekly assessments, and quarterly benchmarks.
7. Use assessment data to provide real-time feedback during classroom instruction.
8. Communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, parents, staff members, and other stakeholders.
9. Work with Instructional Team to refine and develop assessments (quarterly, mid-year, and end of year) for each grade level.
10. Work with various teams (administrators, teachers, staff) to facilitate analysis of data provided by diagnostics, common assessments, and formative assessments.
11. Continuously monitor, track and analyze student achievement data in order to identify needed supports and strategies.
12. Serve as a College and Career Mentor for assigned students.
13. Work closely with Instructional Team, College and Career Mentorship Team, and Counselor with Scheduling, Graduation Requirements, College Entrance Tests, Advance Placement Exams and Credit Recovery.
