This High School Principal pool posting represents anticipated vacancies to fill future Principal positions as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Current Alabama Teacher's Certification
- Master's Degree or higher with an endorsement in Educational Administration K-12
- Demonstrated successful administrative or supervisory experience preferred
- Demonstrated positive communication skills, both verbal and written
Essential Duties:
- Serve as the instructional leader of the school
- Supervise and evaluate administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff
- Analyze relevant data to make informed decisions for teaching and learning
- Collaborate and work with staff, students, parents, and community to ensure a high-quality educational program, including Career and Technical Education
- Formulate and accomplish the school's mission and vision
- Establish an environment of high expectations for staff and students
- Motivate and lead professional learning communities that improve teacher practice
- Support the use of technology to motivate and prepare students for the 21st century
- Provide a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
- Support and attend school-related or extracurricular activities to enhance coaches, teachers, students, parents, and community relations
- Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors
- Manage and oversee facilities and sporting venues
- Perform other duties as assigned
Performance Metrics and Evaluation:
The performance of the Principal will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designee based on leadership effectiveness, instructional impact, school culture, stakeholder engagement, and operational efficiency. Key performance indicators include:
1. Academic Achievement and Growth
- Increase the school's Report Card Grade by 3%5% annually, as measured by the Alabama State Department of Education.
- Increase ELA, Math, and Science proficiency rates by 3%5%, as measured by state assessments.
- Increase overall academic achievement by 3%5%, with a focus on closing performance gaps among student subgroups.
- Increase student academic growth (as measured by state growth indicators or local assessments) by 3%5% annually.
2. College, Career, and Postsecondary Readiness
- Increase the graduation rate by 3%5%, ensuring alignment with state accountability standards.
- Increase the percentage of students meeting College and Career Readiness (CCR) benchmarks by 3%5% annually.
- Increase the number of students participating in dual enrollment programs by 3%5%, in partnership with local colleges and technical institutions.
3. Instructional Leadership and Staff Development
- Conduct 100% of required teacher and staff evaluations within district timelines.
- Provide instructional feedback and coaching that results in 80% or more of teachers demonstrating growth in evaluation scores or classroom performance.
- Facilitate monthly professional learning communities (PLCs) to promote collaborative analysis of data and sharing of best practices.
4. Data-Driven Decision Making
- Utilize multiple data sources to guide instructional and operational decisions.
- Ensure the School Improvement Plan (SIP) is informed by current data, aligned with district goals, and updated throughout the year.
- Present data reports to staff and stakeholders at least twice per year to foster transparency and progress monitoring.
5. School Climate and Culture
- Reduce chronic absenteeism by at least 10% annually.
- Reduce disciplinary referrals, suspensions, and other behavioral incidents by 10% while promoting a safe, inclusive school culture.
- Achieve 85% or higher satisfaction on school climate surveys from students, families, and staff.
6. Family and Community Engagement
- Host at least four community and family engagement events annually.
- Establish and maintain active partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and civic groups to support student learning and enrichment.
7. Fiscal Responsibility and Resource Management
- Manage the school's budget in alignment with district expectations, ensuring 95% accuracy in financial planning and reporting.
- Ensure all spending aligns with school improvement priorities, with timely and compliant use of local, state, and federal funds.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation to ensure zero fiscal audit findings.
- Ensure that federal, state, and local funds (including Title I, if applicable) are used appropriately, aligned with school goals, and in accordance with district policies and procedures.
8. Vision and Mission Alignment
- Lead the implementation of the school's mission and vision, ensuring alignment with district strategic priorities.
- Develop, communicate, and monitor progress on annual school goals, providing evidence of measurable outcomes and stakeholder input.
Special Note: The person selected for this position must agree to a background check, be fingerprinted, and pay a $46.20 fee. This is required by law.
Special Note: For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be pro-rated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
