Job Summary

Essential Functions:

• Regular and punctual attendance required
• Maintain school facilities and grounds
• Sweep, mop, empty trash, clean restrooms, strip, wax and buff floors and any other task related to cleanliness
• Conduct maintenance, make repairs as needed to include changing light fixtures and light bulbs
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Department on those items requiring work that is more detailed
• Order and maintain supplies
• Assist with moving furniture and other items within the school facilities
• Be available to respond as required to alarm activations
• Lock and secure school buildings daily as assigned

Other Job Responsibilities:

• Assume reasonable job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor in order to meet the needs of the school

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work an eight (8) hour day and overtime as requested
• Ability to follow oral and written instruction
• Ability to work independently with or without supervision
• Skills in the use of tools and equipment pertinent to the assigned tasks
• Knowledge of equipment, materials, tools, and methods to perform work tasks as assigned
• Knowledge of safety rules in the workplace
• Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and perform effectively as a team member

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, depending on the job assignment
• Walk and stand 85% of work shift
• Stoop, bend, twist, turn, and reach on a regular basis
• Environmental exposures to heat and cold on a regular basis
• Adequate strength, dexterity, and agility to perform all tasks assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, or sufficient education and experience to perform the duties of the position
• Some experience with commercial custodial or janitorial work preferred
• Ability to carry out tasks requiring moderate physical exertion and some heavy lifting, working outside in various conditions
• Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
