Job Purpose

The main objective of the facilities engineer position is to be responsible for the execution of the budget, the operation and continuity of service of the facilities and equipment in the plant, as well as the planning and execution of continuous improvement projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Establish preventive and corrective maintenance plans and programs for the following systems:

  • Building envelope: Ensure the correct continuity of services and the interior and exterior conditions of the building through the planning and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Auxiliary equipment: Comply with preventive and corrective maintenance of the plant's auxiliary equipment to maintain the continuity of the production operation and the building.
  • Improvement projects: Plan and execute the different improvement projects either through investment or savings by complying with the budget according to the established periods.
  • Piped utilities: Keep water and drainage services running both for employee use and for the plant's production needs.
  • Capital projects: Execute in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager the authorized capital projects through the effective use of the budget under the established periods.
  • Manage contractors: Select, review and manage the work and services of contractors through compliance with safety and financial guidelines, maintaining solid ethical relationships.
  • Process invoices purchasing requisitions and collaborate with the site purchasing team.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with vendors and customers.
  • Attend and support internal meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required

BRC / Safety

  • Create and maintain written procedures as required by ISO and FSSC.
  • Supervise, ensure and maintain safe working conditions while adhering to GMP's within areas of responsibility.
  • Report any incident, accident, or unsafe condition in / out the work area.
  • Generate activities and action plans to improve BRC, OSHAS and GMPs, avoiding non-conformities in audits

Qualifications

  • • A minimum of 2 years of responsibilities related to project management, KPIs, construction experience, etc.
  • Four-year degree in engineering or related field ; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experienced in presentation abilities, including PowerPoint development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Intermediate or advanced Excel management is a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of simple hand tools, multi-meter, tape measure.
  • Basic understanding of lifting and rigging equipment

  • : English, bi-lingual in Spanish is but not required.
  • Highly organized and effective in managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Working Conditions

Environmental conditions of the workstation (noise-temperature-dirt)

  • NOISE: Typical of a warehouse
  • TEMPERATURE: Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures typical of a warehouse.
  • DIRT: Exposure to dust typical in a warehouse.
  • Accident or illness risks (hot material, toxicity, heavy materials).

Physical Requirements

What physical exertion is required?

  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and walk across uneven and slippery surfaces
  • Basic understanding of lifting and rigging equipment
  • Some tasks and projects may require assistance or implementation during nights, weekends, or holidays.
  • May require travel.
