Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Montgomery, AL (On-site only)
Pay Rate: $45.00 - $50.00.00/hr +benefits
Job Type: long-term contract
Work Mode: 100% onsite
Interview Mode: Initial screening via phone or video; final interviews in-person
Position Overview: The Network Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering network support services to multiple law enforcement agencies. This role is critical in designing, implementing, and improving complex network systems, solving difficult issues across various technologies, and executing network upgrades and migrations. The engineer must also communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex network systems.
  • Solve advanced networking issues across multiple technologies.
  • Execute network upgrades and migrations.
  • Analyze and diagnose challenging networking problems.
  • Review and improve complex network designs.
  • Identify and resolve compatibility issues within the services platform.
  • Communicate key concepts and deliverables to diverse audiences.
Required Skills
  • Experience with medium to high complexity network planning, configuration, and optimization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent coordination and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability to coach junior technical staff.
  • Capable of explaining network concepts to technical and non-technical users.
Work Experience
  • Minimum: 10+ years in IT, network security, design, maintenance, and support.
  • Expertise in:
    • Network Design & Architecture: LAN, WAN, cloud networking.
    • Routing & Switching: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP; T1, MPLS; Cisco, Meraki.
    • Security: Firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, security policies.
    • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Tools like Prime, WUG.
Education & Training
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering, or related field.
  • Equivalent professional certifications or extensive experience may substitute.
Certifications
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher (e.g., CCNP, CCIE).
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
Additional Information
  • Potential transition to a full-time state position after a 12-month extension.
  • Onboarding expected within 2-3 weeks.
  • Regular hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
