Position Title: Network Administrator
Job Description:
The Network Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting an
organization's network infrastructure. This role involves configuring and monitoring
network hardware and software, ensuring the reliable operation of network systems,
and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Network Administrators also oversee network
security by implementing firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures to protect
sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access. They collaborate with IT teams to
install new technologies, upgrade systems, and ensure that the network performs
efficiently and securely. Additionally, Network Administrators provide support for end
users, resolve connectivity issues, and ensure that backup systems are in place. Their
work ensures the smooth and secure functioning of the organization's network
environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
•Manage and maintain mission critical and essential systems, including security,
communications, email, file services, and network infrastructure.
•Perform routine network, server, software, and administrative maintenance tasks.
•Install, configure, and upgrade both new and existing applications and operating
systems.
•Troubleshoot, diagnose, and monitor software, hardware, and data-related
issues, developing effective solutions, and coordinating repairs with external
vendors when necessary.
•Provide guidance to computer technicians in resolving software and hardware
problems, offering training as required.
•Deliver comprehensive telephone, remote, and in-person software support to key
users throughout the district.
•Weekend site visits may be necessary to restore connectivity to MDF/IDF before
the school week.
Qualifications:
1. Educational Requirements: A bachelor's degree in computer science,
Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited four-year institution
is required. Alternatively, equivalent professional experience may substitute
academic qualifications at the rate of two years' experience for each year of
college coursework. A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in information
technology is also required.
2. Technical Expertise: Experience in the following:
•Security Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), IP cameras, CCTV cameras,
Door Access Systems, Integrated Security
•Systems and networks.
•Knowledge of network technologies to include Ethernet, DNS, DHCP,
HTTP, and PoE.
•Knowledge of computer and server operating systems to include Microsoft
Windows Server XXXX, Windows 10, 11.
•Knowledge of network technologies to include 802.11x specifications,
Ethernet, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, PoE,
•VoIP, IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, VTP, STP, SSH, Telnet, CDP, LLDP, and
OSPF.
•Knowledge of Security Systems.
3. Certifications: Must be able to achieve networking certifications in 2 years.
4. Background Clearance: Successful completion of background clearance
through FBI and ABI processes is required.
