Job Description
Alabama State University, Office of Admissions and Recruitment, invites applications to fill the position of Administrative Secretary. The selected candidate, under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management, will provide administrative assistant for the office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and administrative duties as requested by the supervisor
  • Answer incoming communications (phone calls, emails, etc.) and direct those to the appropriate staff member
  • Serve as receptionist for the office
  • Process initial requests for ASU's recruitment materials
  • Prepare weekly reports
  • Open, scan and stamp confidential mail daily
  • Participate in all on-campus or off-campus events as assigned
  • Prepare departmental meeting minutes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
An Associate degree in Secretarial Science, Office Administration or other appropriate field with one year of administrative or secretarial experience or a certificate in Secretarial Science with 2 years of administrative or secretarial experience required.

A typing proficiency exam of 40 net words per minute is also required. To be considered for this position, typing proficiency results must be submitted to the ASU Office of Human Resources.
