About the Position

The Data Warehouse and Big Data Manager will oversee the strategic design, implementation, and management of data warehouses and big data solutions, ensuring data availability and standards compliance. This role requires expertise in traditional data warehousing and big data architectures, including data marts, stores, and lakes. The manager will evaluate and select infrastructure components such as software, hardware, and tools to build scalable, efficient data ecosystems. LOCATION: Mobile, Alabama (On-site)

Main Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
• Establish long-term goals for data warehousing and lakes in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Plan capacity expansions for scalability.
• Develop data quality standards and protocols.
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies and quality issues.

Acquisition & Deployment
• Research and recommend products, services, and standards.
• Select hardware, database systems, ETL, and data mining tools.

Operational Management
• Collaborate with users to develop reports and data solutions.
• Oversee data collection, master data, and SQL databases.
• Support complex data queries using SQL and Python.
• Resolve access and performance issues.
• Monitor and configure data systems.
• Mentor junior team members and support data science team development.

About You

Competencies and Experience

Required:
• 5+ years in data/IT/systems roles.
• 2-3 years in designing and supporting data warehouses and big data solutions.
• Programming experience (preferably Python).
• SQL database management and complex querying skills.
• Knowledge of relational databases, data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
• Experience in data architecture, mining, modeling, and requirements analysis.
• Familiarity with network systems.
• Ability to work in decentralized IT organizations.

Preferred:
• Project management experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative mindset and team experience.
• Knowledge of Hadoop, Hive, NoSQL, Kafka, and data security tools.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, especially ML/AI components.

Education

Required:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.

Preferred:
• Master's degree and relevant certifications are advantageous.
