Job Description: Store Manager Trainee

As a Store Manager Trainee, you will learn all aspects of successfully running a store in preparation for managing your own store. Your responsibilities include supervising daily store activities, ensuring overall performance, staffing, scheduling, and developing operational plans, while mentoring your team.

Position Details

  • Type: Full-Time
  • Hours: 48-50 hours/week
  • Starting Wage: $26.50/hour
  • Potential Year 1 Earnings: Up to $80,500 (salary + bonus, varies by location)

Duties & Responsibilities

Must perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  1. Supervise daily operations and team performance to deliver excellent customer service.
  2. Communicate and model company values to foster teamwork.
  3. Handle customer concerns and resolve issues appropriately.
  4. Maintain store signage, product quality, and freshness.
  5. Assist in hiring, reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates.
  6. Manage weekly schedules to ensure proper staffing.
  7. Set clear job responsibilities and performance expectations.
  8. Conduct store meetings and identify training opportunities.
  9. Perform annual performance evaluations and recommend promotions or terminations.
  10. Achieve payroll and loss budgets.
  11. Manage cash audits per guidelines.
  12. Monitor community competition and advise on adjustments.
  13. Provide product feedback and suggestions for new or discontinued items.
  14. Create a safe environment by identifying hazards and maintaining equipment.
  15. Oversee merchandising, stock levels, and inventory counts.
  16. Follow all company policies, ensuring data security and confidentiality.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Stock merchandise, lift up to 45 pounds, and operate store equipment.
  • Regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, walk.

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 21+ years old.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Provide prompt, courteous customer service.
  • Develop rapport and trust with team members.
  • Interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Set goals, evaluate performance, and manage budgets.
  • Operate cash register accurately.
  • Safely operate equipment and perform cleaning duties.
  • Stay organized, multi-task, and follow instructions.
  • Meet state/local requirements for handling alcohol.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 3 years of retail experience.
  • Management experience preferred.

Travel

Training may occur at multiple locations; flexibility to travel required.
